Connor’s Steakhouse Dry Rub (for 1 steak)
Simple, bold, and made fresh every time—just how we like it out here on the ranch.
Ingredients
-
3 tsp kosher salt
-
2 tsp coarse black pepper (fresh ground)
-
2 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
1 tsp dried oregano
Optional Add-Ins:
-
1 tsp brown sugar (for sweetness)
-
1 tsp cayenne pepper (for heat)
Instructions
-
Start with Salt:
Salt your steak generously about 1 hour before cooking. This helps draw out moisture and enhances the natural dry-aging effect. It also gives your steak that deep, beefy flavor from the inside out. -
Mix the Rub:
When you're ready to cook, mix all the other spices in a small bowl. For a sweet-and-spicy kick, add the brown sugar and cayenne. -
Rub it In:
Pat your steak dry, then coat it evenly with the spice mix. Press it into the meat so it sticks. -
Cook Your Way:
Sear it in a cast iron skillet, grill it over open flame, or reverse sear to perfection. However you cook it, this rub delivers.
Tips from the Ranch:
-
Don’t premix a big batch. This rub is best made fresh—especially the pepper. Whole peppercorns ground right before use make a world of difference.
-
Use quality salt and real paprika. It’s a simple rub, so every ingredient matters.
Say your prayers, kiss the cook, and fire up the skillet.
